Iller Bank and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry are the respective counterpart and beneficiary of the government to government (G2G) project: “Developing AppropriateMethodology for Wastewater Treatment in Small and Medium Sized Municipalities in Turkey” (G2G08/TR/7/2), which is being financed by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and coordinated by NL EVD International. The implementation of the project falls under the framework of the implementation of the European Council Directive 91/271/EEC of 21 May 1991 on urban wastewater treatment (UWWT) that is contributing to Turkey’s accession to the European Union. The Union of Municipalities in Turkey (UMT) and the State Planning Organisation (SPO) are project stakeholders.
An important element of all G2G projects is the transfer of knowledge and expertise between governmental institutions. In the G2G08/TR/7/2 project, the Dutch governmental organisations involved are World Waternet and InfoMil. The organisations (i.e. the consortium) responsible for the actual facilitation of this process and provision of expert input are Ameco (consortium leader) and Tauw BV, both based in The Netherlands and IBS Research & Consultancy, based in Turkey.
